Niagen Bioscience, the company behind Tru Niagen, has been around for 25 years. Niagen, the active ingredient in Tru Niagen, is the embodiment of 50+ years of scientific study. It is Niagen Bioscience's patented commercial form of NR (nicotinamide riboside), which was discovered back in 1944. Sixty years later, our chief scientific advisor discovered that NR can play a leading role in the creation of NAD+. After several more years of R&D, Niagen was commercialized in 2013, and we launched our own brand and flagship product, Tru Niagen, in 2017.
